Grants & Funding for Photographers

With the generous support of Jerome Foundation, Emergency Grants: Cancellation Funds began to address the financial impact of cancelled engagements stemming from sudden and continuing losses of federal funding. Cancellation funds were made available to experimental artists with previously confirmed public presentations including exhibitions, readings, and performances. Recognizing that artists and venues needed to rethink budgets, redirect resources, and limit or eliminate programming, cancellation funds aimed to mitigate the loss of financial commitments and outlays made prior to the cancellation. The grants were accepted on a rolling basis and distributed monthly in amounts up to $3000. Applications close November 30, 2026.

CERF+ offers $3,000 Emergency Relief Grants to craft artists who experienced a recent and substantially disruptive emergency or disaster. Rolling Deadline.

The Woodman Family Foundation Housing Stability Grant for Artists (WFF HSG) provides grants of $30,000, distributed over three years to NYC-based visual artists in need who are seeking support for stable housing. Application opens Winter/Spring 2026.

The New Work Grant supports emerging individual artists and artist collectives of all artistic disciplines in their creation of new work. “New Work” is defined as work that has not been produced or presented to an audience before. QAF offers project-based grants to Queens-based artists, artist collectives, and small non-profit organizations to support the local production of artwork and cultural programs that highlight, engage, and bolster the diverse communities of the Queens borough. Applicants may submit grant requests ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. Applications open Summer 2026.

Provides selected NYC-based photographers with studio access, darkroom time, film processing credit, and camera rentals to develop a project.

A unique 1 month long photography residency taking place inside a mobile darkroom Airstream trailer. Applications close January 20, 2026.

The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) cordially invites applicants for a nine-month Larry Lederman Photography Fellowship, awarded to an outstanding photographer whose work focuses on gardens or landscapes. The grant is awarded annually to an established or emerging photographer whose work demonstrates excellence and a creative approach to the art of landscape photography. Applications close January 30, 2026.

The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship is an $8,000 unrestricted cash grant available to artists living in New York State and/or one of the Tribal Nations located therein. This grant is awarded in fifteen different disciplines over a three-year period (five categories a year) and the application is free to complete. The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship is not a project grant, but is intended to fund an artist’s vision or voice, at all levels of their artistic development. Applications close on January 27, 2026.

The JGS Fellowship for Photography is a $8,000 cash grant open to New York State photography artists living and working outside of New York City. The Fellowship is awarded to five artists working in traditional and experimental photography or any form in which photographic techniques are pivotal. Applications open in Spring 2026.
